Vision Statement


Meridian Technical Charter High School employs the best practices and innovations of today, and tomorrow, to provide a progressive educational experience for every student. We envision the lifelong application of learning, coupled with intelligent risk taking, to challenge and encourage participation as a productive member of the community and global society.

MTCHS Admissions Process


  • Interested student/parent fill out the application form per the process as listed on the front of the packet
  • All documents for the application (test scores, teacher recommendation if applicable) are put in a folder for the current lottery.
  • Important dates such as Tech-X-sperience, 8th Grade Information Night, Deadline dates for applications to be received for the lottery, and lottery drawing date are noted on the front of the application packet
  • All names from applications received by the due date with or without the teacher recommendations and test scores are put into the lottery drawing. The lottery drawing is done at the Joint Meridian School District Office by the clerk of the Board and secretary to the Superintendent
  • The list is posted near the front entrance of the school and all names for which MTCHS received parent permission are posted on our website by the end of the day
  • Applications received after this date are added to the waiting list formed on the day of the lottery in the order they are received
  • Priorities that impact the lottery process Idaho Code 33-5205, 33-5206
    • First priority, to pupils returning to the public charter school in the second or any subsequent year of its operation
    • Second priority, to children of founders, provided that this admission preference shall be limited to not more than ten percent (10%) of the capacity
    • Third priority, to siblings of pupils already enrolled in the public charter school
    • Fourth priority, lottery of pupils who submit applications, preference is given to students residing in Joint School District #2 Idaho Code 33-5206

Basic Goals


  • Students will have the basic character traits of honesty, self-discipline, and respect for authority.

  • Students will be able to attend a two-year college, a four-year college, or a technical trade school.
  • Students will be proficient in the use of current technology.

  • Only 60 hours of absences allowed per year, including tardies, illness, trips, bereavement, and appointments

Technology Pathways


  • Networking: Topics include computer repair, networking, administering servers, network design, firewalls and network security.
  • Programming/Web Development: Topics include JavaScript, XML, CSS, HTML, ASP.net, C#, Java, databases, SQL, PHP, and Software Development.
  • Media Arts: Topics include graphic design, print design, web site development, video production, and photography.
  • Electronics/Pre-Engineering: Topics include electronics, robotics, microcontrollers, soldering, technician training, problem solving, troubleshooting, CAD.
